Woolloongabba Priority Development Area
The 106 hectare Woolloongabba Priority Development Area (PDA) was declared on 22 September 2023 and a new Interim Land Use Plan (dated September 2023) is now in effect.
The Interim Land Use Plan (dated September 2023) will be in effect until a PDA Development Scheme is finalised, following public consultation.
The PDA Development Scheme will provide streamlined planning and assessment processes that enable accelerated economic and community development.
The Woolloongabba PDA will transform the area as the southern gateway to Brisbane’s city centre and create interconnected neighbourhoods close to high-frequency public transport, jobs, services, shopping, entertainment, leisure, dining opportunities, and diverse living options, including affordable, social and accessible housing.
Given the PDA’s strategic positioning, city-wide significance and planned public transport infrastructure, it is anticipated that major urban densification and precinct revitalisation will be reflected in a proposed Development Scheme that will undergo public consultation in accordance with the Economic Development Act 2012. Public consultation is expected to commence in May 2024.

Engagement Opportunities
In the lead up to and during the public notification period in 2024, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) will be running engagement activities to inform the community about the PDA, what changes mean for them and how they can make submissions about a proposed Development Scheme during the public consultation process.
During late 2023, EDQ undertook research, through a survey, to gauge the community’s understanding of precincts and what the PDA means for them.

The purpose of this survey is to explore your views and priorities for the future development of the Woolloongabba area.
Your responses will be summarised and shared with Economic Development Queensland who is responsible for preparing a new plan (called a development scheme) for the Woolloongabba Priority Development Area (PDA).
Your responses may also be shared at future public engagement events and in reporting. Comments will not be attributable to individuals.

The survey should take approximately 12 minutes to complete and will close 14 January 2024.
