On 6 June 2023, Brisbane City Council (the council) resolved to submit the Kurilpa Sustainable Growth Precinct Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) 01/23 (the proposed TLPI) to the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (the Planning Minister) for consideration. On 7 June 2023, the council subsequently submitted the proposed TLPI to the State seeking the Planning Minister’s approval to adopt with an earlier effective day of 6 June 2023.

The council states the proposed TLPI has been prepared to increase housing supply, in response to a high level of housing need, in a part of the city that is well serviced by existing and planned infrastructure and has good access to employment and services.

While there is no requirement under the Planning Act 2016 to consult on a TLPI, the Planning Minister is seeking the community’s views of the proposed TLPI to help inform his decision.

Feedback is required by 26 July 2023.
