Visioning survey

Regional plans set the long-term, strategic land use direction for how a region will grow and respond to change over time. They are an important reference for state government departments, local governments and the private sector when planning infrastructure, regulating land uses and making investment decisions.

We are reviewing the Far North Queensland Regional Plan. This review covers these local government areas:

  • Cairns Regional Council
  • Cassowary Coast Regional Council
  • Cook Shire Council  (partially – south-east corner of Cook Shire including Cooktown and Lakeland)
  • Douglas Shire Council
  • Etheridge Shire Council
  • Mareeba Shire Council
  • Tablelands Regional Council
  • Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council
  • Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council

Since the commencement of the existing FNQ Regional Plan in 2009, the region has undergone significant growth and change. This review presents an opportunity to better align the plan with the community's aspirations for the future.

As part of this process, we are eager to hear from you about your aspirations for the region’s future. Your input will help inform the strategic vision for the region, directing policy goals.

These aspirations relate to the broader FNQ Region and complement the local planning schemes and visioning initiatives undertaken by your local council.

Your voice matters and we welcome your input to the vision of the revised Far North Queensland Regional Plan.
