Construction update - September 2019

Early works are continuing on the former Yeronga TAFE site, with EDQ’s contractors mobilising to begin removing a small number of trees from Monday 30 September 2019.

These trees need to be removed as asbestos containing material has been found in their root systems. It should take approximately two days to complete, weather conditions permitting.

Works will continue to remove asbestos containing material from site.

Once these works are completed, ENERGEX will remove the transformer from the site, which will then enable demolition of the remaining building to be undertaken. This is likely to occur in late-2019.

All vegetation and asbestos removal works are being undertaken in accordance with the relevant legislation and safety guidelines.

During these works, residents and businesses near the site may experience construction noise, dust, vibration and truck movements. Where necessary, traffic controllers and signage will be in place to assist with truck movements and to assist road users and pedestrians safely around the site.

If you have any questions in relation to these works, please contact us through the Have your Say website, or email edqengagement@dsdmip.qld.gov.au

Kind regards
The Yeronga Project Team
