The workshop series will take place over four full weekends throughout 2018 and early-2019. The first workshop will be held on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 April 2018.

The workshop series will bring together key community, environment and business groups with representatives from the Department of State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDMIP), Gold Coast City Council and Gold Coast Waterways Authority to plan for the future of The Spit.

Participants will consider a wide range of options and alternative views to prepare and refine a vision for the future of The Spit. This vision will seek to get the balance right between protecting environmental and community values and guiding appropriate development opportunities. The vision will be reflected in the final master plan.

There are 20 positions for members of the public to participate in the workshop series. These participants will be selected from the immediate vicinity of The Spit, the broader Gold Coast area and the broader South-East Queensland region to ensure a range of community views are represented.

We are seeking members of the public that are unaffiliated with key stakeholders that will be formally invited to the workshop series. If you are already a member of a group that will be represented at the workshop series, we encourage you to liaise with them directly to either express your interest in participating in the workshop series on their behalf or to provide your feedback via their nominated representative

Want more information? Read our Frequently Asked Questions or email thespitmasterplan@dsdmip.qld.gov.au .
