Infrastructure upgrades

  • In December 2018, Brisbane based JMac Constructions was appointed as the park contractor. You can read more about it on the news feed.
  • In early 2018 construction commenced on the Wharf Close pop-up park at Northshore. The pop-up park is located at the old Eat Street site at the end of Wharf Close and will provide local residents, dogs and the community with an outdoor space while Hercules Street Park (Hamilton Recreation Reserve) is revitalised. The pop-up park will include a dog-off-leash area, a grass oval and some children's play equipment and is open between 5.00 am - 7.00 pm.
  • Hercules Street Park (Hamilton Recreation Reserve) will undergo a $10 million (approximately) transformation and expansion. The proposed design includes a sprawling lawn, impressive fig garden, a picnic area, a dog park and water play facilities. The village green in the centre of the park is designed to be large enough for a game of cricket or football and with facilities for open air, amphitheatre style entertainment.

Roadwork activity

  • EDQ recently completed a $24 million road upgrade project which saw Harbour Road, Hercules Street, Remora Road and MacArthur Avenue upgraded to include four-lane, sub arterial roads with upgraded footpaths, cycle tracks, street lighting, two new signalised intersections, road resurfacing and boulevard planting.

As many of you are aware there has been a lot of activity happening at the Hercules Street Park site in the last six months.

The work already undertaken is called ‘early works’ and included bulk earthworks, major drainage and relocation of trees.

At this point in time we have released a tender to find a contractor to undertake the remainder of the park upgrade. Once the contractor is appointed you will then see further activity on site.

We have included an up to date timeline on the right hand side of this website and we will continue to update...
