The draft North Queensland Regional Plan and draft mapping has been released

The draft plan provides a 25-year framework for the direction the NQ region needs to move to ensure a more vibrant and sustainable future.

The community now has a chance to have their say at a range of community events, dedicated talk to a planner sessions or by completing our online survey.

The draft plan includes the local government areas of Burdekin, Charters Towers, Hinchinbrook, Palm Island and Townsville.

For the purposes of feedback, a properly made submission must be made to the Planning Minister and:

  • include the name and residential or business address of each person making the submission
  • be made in writing and, unless the submission is made electronically, must be signed by each person who has made the submission
  • state the grounds of the submission and the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds
  • be made during the consultation period which is from 30 August 2019 to 22 November 2019.
