The Queensland Government recognises the importance of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the delivery and management of infrastructure assets and has committed to implementing the use of BIM on all major state infrastructure projects by 2023.
BIM offers many benefits throughout the asset lifecycle and has the potential to drive efficiency, value for money, productivity, innovation and safety.
To maximise the benefits from its use of BIM on infrastructure projects within its annual capital program, the Queensland Government has prepared the Building Information Modelling – draft policy and principles for Queensland to support the effective use of BIM across infrastructure delivery agencies.
